Flat World

based on lyrics from a Death Cab for Cutie song (The New Year) The text on the glacier reads: "I wish the world was flat like the old days, so I could travel just by holding a map... there'd be no distance that could hold us back." Every time I listen to that song I have this picture in my mind so I wanted to finally draw it out. I had a ton of fun drawing and painting this one and love how it turned out. I wanted the continents to be recognizable but not perfect so if your country is grossly misshapen don't take it personally :) The stars in the sky were made by sprinkling salt onto the black watercolor while it was still very wet. Neat effect I had heard of and wanted to try.
