Lemon

I've discovered a very annoying progression present in all my paintings. I start a painting, and things are going great, it gets better and better until it hits this plateau where its as good as its going to be, but its not done. I can't stop, because its not finished, but if I keep going it'll be downhill. So I end up with a finished product that was better before it was finished. Why don't I just stop and call it good you might wonder? Because I can't! I can't leave it unfinished, I HAVE to do more. But disappointingly its a detrimental compulsion. So here's a lemon that's a bit sour. I do like the box though and it redeems the painting a bit in my eyes. Hardest part? The freaking layer between the peel and the pulp, whatever that's called.

  1. Taylor, where do you get all of your inspiration for these? Every time I look at your paintings I'm in awe. I think it looks great! seriously though, where do you get these ideas to paint such random things?

  2. Thanks Daynna :) Most of my paintings are just from things we have around our apartment or from pictures we've taken. Sometimes I have to look hard to find something to paint, other times its easier, and every once in awhile a painting will come to me without me having to do anything- good old muses- and those are the best. In fact I have one of those coming up sometime soon. And I usually think about painting at night when I can't sleep. I'm weird I know.
