Out of the archives/my closet.

Although I still haven't found time to start anything new, I found an assignment that I can paint in one of my classes so that'll be coming soon. Its great to have an excuse to paint, I won't have to feel guilty. Recently I gathered all the canvases that I still have in a big stack. I found some that I had forgotten while I was making my book, and there are even more from years ago when I first started. So I figured I'd post them all here.

Christmas Mate' from winter 2007
This is a pretty big canvas for me, and I think it turned out well. I made the mistake of setting it up on the kitchen table though, and by the time I finished it the cookies were gone.

Untitled St. George
I remember I wanted to paint the view out my grandparents window but I didn't have any of my supplies with me, so I found an art store and bought everything I needed to paint this as I sat on the back porch. This was probably around 2006

'Backyard Winter Creek'
This is the view out of my parents back windows, painted several years ago.

'Cape May'
This was my second oil painting ever. Haha I've learned a lot since then. See all the yellowing? Yeah, that's not supposed to be there. Its a lighthouse in New Jersey where one of my roommates was from.

' '
I noticed that I used to have a terrible habit of not titling or dating my paintings. This was from a long time ago. I wanted to paint using different colors. I went too far and ended up ruining her face, there was a time where she didn't look so simian.

This is an old postcard sized practice of a flower. Pretty simple.

Another old postcard practice of an angel.

'Death of an artist'
This is one of my favorites. Its from 2007, based on a random idea I had about an artist's imagination leaking out after he died. Its the cover of my book.

'Just let go'
This is from about 2007 too. I really wanted to paint but I the muses had abandoned me and I didn't have any ideas. I just started painting and this is what came out. Two people, lovers apparently, that are being pulled apart. Not my favorite but it got me out of my rut.

My first oil painting ever... A boring fruit still life painted by a very inexperienced artist. I hate how its cut off on the bottom and there's a huge gap above. Oh well, I had to start somewhere.

Untitled landscape. Nothing much, just an impressionist landscape based off a random photo.

  1. These are cool Taylor. I love all of the landscapes. And that Death of an Artist is way cool too.
